about us
When you enter my parents home there is a picture of me when I was elementary school age - the still very innocent, wonderful age of 6 - sewing on my mother's old Singer sewing machine. I still happen to have the fantastic relic. I did not realize at that time that I would end up turning this early hobby into a business. I guess I was a peculiar child in that I loved it when my mom's sewing club would come to our house for their meetings. A special treat for me was when I was "invited" to come with her to one of her sewing parties/meetings. Througout growing up I did craft projects on the sewing machine and loved it. When I went away to boarding school for my last year of high school, a group of my friends were in a sewing class. They would complain about their mandatory sewing classes. I was envious!
Me being the sewing geek, I asked for special permission to attend when it did not interfere with my high school classes. I recently found a picture of the prom dress I designed and made - wow was I proud. I kind of hung up my sewing hat for a while during my college years and my early career days. When my husband and I bought our first home, the bug came back. All of a sudden there were curtains to be made, comforter covers to sew, throw pillows to place in all the appropriate spots. I started sewing again. During the very little spare time that I had - two small children and a career can be a large deterrent - I started clipping out pictures of accessories and thought, I can make these and I can make them more fun, more stylish, more colorful and more useful. Friends and family loved my ideas and encouraged me to continue on in my pursuit of turning this into a business.
The creative part of this whole venture was a blessing. An opportuinity for me to do something completely different from my day to day activity at my job. I have since quit my day job and work on this business now full time ( or semi full time - let's not forget that those little ones are still here growing up and needing my time). It has been a wonderful journey so far with much support from family and friends. A big thank you goes out to all who have helped make this come to fruition whether it was to support my dream, encourage a hair-brained idea or just simply come up with a need they wanted filled - Thank You! I hope you will keep coming back to visit this site because I have just begun to scratch the surface of all the ideas that are floating around in my head. Every so often, another one manages to make it to the final product stage.
